During a routine power line replacement, David the lineman finds himself up in the cherry picker preparing to grab the line as he normally does. After all the safety checks are performed, he gets a thumbs up and grabs the line. The next thing he knows, he wakes up with his right arm amputated, his legs feel like they are shredded, and his in a room surrounded by people he does not know. "What happened?" he asks. He grabbed a live wire and was electrocuted, leaving him and his crew wondering, what do we do now?
The crew manages to maintain their composure long enough to get David to the Emergency Department in time to receive the necessary care that is required of an electrocution burn victim.
Dr. Ernest Grant takes us through the story from the day before the incident through the final departure from the critical burn/plastic surgery unit at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health Medical Center.
